Spam anyone?

Exchanging business cards has always been a part of networking. These days though, I must admit to wondering if I will end up on someones unsolicited email database (SPAM) every time I hand my card over. When we hand over a card its one of the ways of starting a relationship so that we can then contact each other if we feel its appropriate or to take an agreed action, referring, follow up, future resource.

It does not say ” Please add me to your SPAM list “.

There are are fewer quicker ways to get removed from my database then to add me to a letter without my consent. If people ask me first, then I would if interested, agree. It’s one of the reasons I hand over my business card at the end of a conversion and normally with an agreed action.
